DON’T pay full tuition for graduate school, if you can help it.
5 tips for looking for scholarship funding:
1. Always renegotiate with the university if you’re admitted. It never hurts to ask. But remember, even if you get it, 10% off 200K is still 180K. Consider deferring for a year to seek scholarship or other funding sources.
2. Talk to other recent graduates: What do they wish they knew? Was it worth it? How much are they earning now? Do the math and the research about salary expectations and job responsibilities in places and positions you’re seeking.
3. Research every possible scholarship opportunity. Use sites like GoGrad to see if there are opportunities you might be able to capitalize on.
4. Ask your employer: It’s definitely a diminishing practice but some employers will still pay partial tuition. Talk to HR!
5. Go to school in places that are less expensive
